Bubblers Grab the Lead in Fifth Inning For Victory Over James Buchanan

 

Boiling Springs ran off with the lead late in the game in a 21-16 victory over James Buchanan on Tuesday. The game was tied at 14 in the top of the fifth when Mya Gilliam singled on an 0-2 pitch, scoring two runs.

 

Maya Fields led the Bubblers to victory by driving in six and scoring 4 runs.

 

James Buchanan got things moving in the first inning. Morgan Nelling drove in a run on a triple to right field, scoring Harbold. A single by Atherton, a hit batter, a walk, 6   singles, a double, and 2 errors led to a 10-0 lead at the end of the first inning.

 

Boiling Springs chipped away and ran away over the next 6 innings, scoring 2 in the second, 3 in the third on a monster 3 run home run over the center field fence by Maya Fields, 2 in the fourth, 9 in the fifth, 3 in the sixth, and 2 in the seventh.

 

James Buchanan looked to start a comeback in the bottom of the 7th by scoring two runs, but Raychel Allen ended the game on a nice running catch in right field.

 

Sidney Schoffstall got the win for the Bubblers. Schoffstall went seven innings, allowing 16 runs on 16 hits while striking out one.

 

Kirstyn Atherton took the loss for James Buchanan. Atherton slowed nine hits and 15 runs over six innings, striking out four.

 

Boiling Springs saw the ball well today, racking up 11 hits in the game.

 

Emma Decker and Kaitlyn Fassl each went 3-for-5, scoring 3 runs each while Schoffstall finished 2-for-4.

 

James Buchanan totaled 16 hits with Atherton going 5-for-5, Nelling 3-for-5, and Abby Nagy going 2-for-3.
