With the boy and girls golf teams competing this last Wednesday on October 2nd, we asked Coach Lithgow about the season, how the golfers performed, and what is next for Boiling Springs golf.
1. How did both the boys and girls end in the regular season standings?
The boys compete in the Capital Division and finished with a 36-6 record good enough for second place. The girls do not compete in a division but play matches throughout the season in order to qualify for the Mid-Penn Championships.
2. How many golfers and who qualified for the Mid-Penn Championship/Championship Qualifier?
Boys:
Mid Penn Qualifier: Dom Scavone, Cody Schaffer, Carter Jumper
Mid Penn Championship: James Sias and Sam Harbst, Dom Scavone
The team also qualified for a spot in the AAA Team competition
James, Sam and Dom competed individually at the MPC's
James: 85
Sam: was sick and did not play
Dom: 87
The cut was 83 so none of the boys moved onto the District 3 Championships.
Girls:
All 4 Varsity girls qualified for the Mid-Penn Championships as Individuals and the Team also qualified at the MPC
Individually the girls needed a 104 or better to secure a berth in the AA Individual District 3 Championship
Addison Fulton: 90
Cameron Trostle: 100
Emma Whare: 104
Emma Morgan: 123
Also the girls team needed a 300 (best 3 out of 4 scores) in order to play in the AA Team District 3 Championship
The girls posted a 294 and now will play in the District 3 Championships
The girls team will compete individually and as a team on October 11-12th at Honey Run Golf Course, where Districts AA will be held. If they are successful, they will move on to the AA state tournament at State College on October 21-23rd.
